HBO has posted a new featurette about filming the upcoming third season.
Game of Thrones is one of the best shows on television these days – fantasy or otherwise. The only drawback? There are currently only 10 episodes per year. Nevertheless, HBO has shifted a lot of resources into the show, and with great performances, a huge production budget, and skilled directing, not to mention the fantastic world-building in the source material, it quickly became, and has remained, a favorite of fantasy fans.
As most of you probably know, the third season is coming up this spring. I don’t want to discuss what stories from the books will be present in this season due to concern over spoilers, but we do have the featurette below which is full of little snippets of interviews with the cast and crew – including showrunner David Bennioff and stars Peter Dinklage, Amelia Clarke and Maisie Williams.
Hearing Bennioff say that they feel like they’ve done enough at season 3 may concern some fans of the show, but worry not: HBO has already confirmed that they are fully committed to producing the series until the story is over. Song of Ice and Fire, the series of books by George R.R. Martin upon which the show is based, is epic in length, and at the current rate at which the show devours the source material, we’ve likely got a total of 10 seasons before the end.
The third season of Game of Thrones, which covers the events of the first half of book three of Song of Ice and Fire, is currently in production and will begin airing on March 31st, 2013 on HBO.
