Android-powered Toshiba Excite 10 SE tablet priced at $350

At first glance, the new Android-powered Toshiba Excite 10 SE tablet doesn’t seem to differ all that much from the other 10-inch tablets in the company’s Excite lineup. However, there is one major notable difference between the new Excite 10 SE and some of the other tablets Toshiba has offered in the past, namely the  price.

Indeed, the Excite 10 SE sells for $100 less than its 10-inch predecessor, weighing in at $350. The new tablet is powered by an Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor and runs Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean).

Additional hardware specs include a 10.1-inch display, a three-megapixel rear camera, a HD resolution front camera, integrated Wi-Fi, and integrated Bluetooth 3.0. The tablet – which weighs in at 1.4 pounds – also boasts 16 GB of integrated storage, a microSD card slot for storage expansion and an integrated micro USB port.

The tablet is expected to launch on December 6 at stores around the country. The original Excite 10 is available for around $400 if you can’t wait until December 6. If you want a smaller screen Excite 7.7 tablet, you can pick one of those up for the same $350 the new Excite 10 SE sells for.

Hardcore Android fans might find this tablet appealing, but with the iPad 2 starting at $399 the new Excite 10 SE isn’t significantly cheaper than Apple’s flagship tablet. To be sure, the new iPad with retina display starts at $499 – making it a bigger stretch for shoppers locked into a $350 price range.
