HBO has released the first trailer TV spot for the upcoming season of its vampire drama serial, True Blood.
Yes, there have been a few other TV spots promoting the new season, but this is the first one with any real footage. Narrated by cast newcomer Christopher Heyerdahl, the 30-second spot, which first appeared during the season 2 premier of Game of Thrones on Sunday, offers a glimpse of where the next season will be taking us.
This upcoming season (5) of the hit show will be the last to be helmed by its creator Alan Ball. The series is already planned through the sixth season at least, but Ball will be taking a backseat after 5. Who will take up the role of showrunner after Ball steps down has not yet been announced, but I can’t imagine it will be a name that isn’t already associated with the popular show.
The new season will be bringing in a number of fresh faces in addition to Heyerdahl, including Camilla Luddington, Giles Matthey, and Christopher Meloni.
The fifth season of True Blood begins in June on HBO.
