HBO has released a new trailer for the upcoming season of its hit fantasy drama Game of Thrones. This one is titled Price for our Sins.
Another major theme of the second book, and thus this second season, is the idea of retribution and karma. Not everyone always gets their comeuppance in the serial drama, but the wheel of fortune definitely continues to turn, raising and crushing those tied to it more and more rapidly as the story continues.
We also get that nice little speech from Varys again about the illusions of power. I think they’re overusing the bite just a bit, and that it’s power will be lessened for it, but I suppose not every fan is watching all the trailers and clips.
The second season primarily covers the events depicted in the second book of Song of Ice and Fire, a still-unfinished fantasy series by George R. R. Martin, which sees the dispersal of the Starks around the seven kingdoms, and the machinations of all the hopefuls for the throne getting more complicated. The Dragons are growing larger, and we’ll start to see our first signs of the magic that this world holds – if it sticks to the book, we’ll get our first taste in the very first scene.
We don’t have very long to wait now. anticipation is high, but I wouldn’t put it past them to release one more trailer.
Game of Thrones season 2 kicks off on April 1, 2012, and will air each Sunday for ten episodes. The first season is currently being replayed on Sunday evenings. HBO subscribers can also catch up on the HBO Go website.
