Marvel film universe marathon opens The Avengers

AMC Theaters and Marvel Studios have teamed up to bring Marvel film fans an epic film event.

Starting at 11:30 am at select AMC Theaters, fans can watch, in release order, all five existing films which are considered part of the official Marvel Film Universe canon (that’s Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, and Captain America: The First Avenger) the last two in 3D.

With breaks for meals, the event will lead into a showing of The Avengers in 3D at 12:01 am on May 4. The ticket for the entire event is $40, and it comes with a limited edition pair of Avengers Real D glasses and a $5 AMC gift certificate.

The synopsis for The Avengers is thus:

Continuing the epic big-screen adventures started in “Iron Man,” “The Incredible Hulk,” “Iron Man 2,” “Thor” and “Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Marvel’s The Avengers” is the superhero team up of a lifetime. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as SHIELD, finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins.
