Paramount Home Entertainment has announced the upcoming release of a limited edition collector’s box-set for Michael Bay’s Transformers trilogy.
Arriving soon after the new year, the box-set will include all three films on Blu-ray, with an extra disc for the 3D version of Dark of the Moon. There will be over 10 hours of special features, including lots of making-of features and cast interviews, along with the commentary tracks. The set also boasts a “plaque of movie images” – with each one signed by Michael Bay.
If you need any further indicator that Bay is indeed done with making Transformer films, this is a resounding note to that effect.
At the same time, the “Ultimate Edition” Blu-ray combo set for Dark of the Moon will be available, which features the hi-def Blu-ray copy of the film and the 3D as well as hours of special features, some of which aren’t even in the grand box-set.
“This Blu-ray 3D of Dark of the Moon will blow you away.” Michael Bay is quoted as saying in the press release, “If you’ve been waiting for the right time to get a 3D television, this is it. For fans who’ve been waiting patiently to bring Dark of the Moon home, this Ultimate Edition release delivers the goods.”
The release also had this synopsis of the 4-disc pack:
The ongoing epic story of the mighty AUTOBOTS continues in Transformers: Dark of the Moon and the four-disc Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD combo pack takes fans behind-the-scenes, across the U.S. and into the far reaches of space for a fully immersive entertainment experience. The set includes a nearly two-hour documentary about the making of the film, which follows the cast and crew around the world, reveals the secrets behind the breathtaking stunts, including more footage of the amazing “birdmen,” and documents the film’s progress all the way through its triumphant release. Plus, additional features show how Chicago was transformed into the movie’s biggest action set, offer a look inside NASA, unveil artists’ renderings of the AUTOBOTS and DECEPTICONS and much, much more. The combo pack will also be enabled with UltraViolet, a new way to collect, access and enjoy movies. With UltraViolet, consumers can add movies to their digital collection in the cloud, and then stream or download them – safely and securely – to a variety of devices.
Both packs will be available at the end of January 2012. The Limited Edition Trilogy pack can be preordered on Amazon.
