AT&T has sued a number of liquid-crystal display manufacturers for allegedly fixing the price of mobile LCD screens in the US.
According to the Wall Street Journal, AT&T purchased more than 300 million overpriced mobile wireless handsets for resale during a period of “conspiracy” that spanned nearly 10 years.
The companies accused of the “long-running” scheme include AU Optronics, LG Display, Sharp, Chunghwa and Samsung Electronics.
It should be noted that LG Display, Sharp and Chunghwa were previously forced to pay $585 million in criminal fines after a US Justice Department probe found the companies guilty of illegally price fixing LCDs used in flat-screen televisions, cell phones and other devices.
