Consumers who held off on the iPhone 4 launch because they were waiting for the white version – which was supposed to come out just weeks after the black model – may soon be able to buy their coveted device.
Sure, it’s the next calendar year already and the world of the iPhone has been shaken with the announcement of Verizon’s version of the phone, but apparently Apple has still been working on making its device a different color.
To some, it sounds as though it wouldn’t be that hard, but Apple has had to delay the product multiple times. In October, it finally stopped promising a short turnaround and released a statement saying the white iPhone 4 would be available in the spring.
That’s where Best Buy picks up the story, as the white device has reportedly shown up in the retailer’s database, with both a 16 GB and 32 GB model.
Best Buy even has SKUs for both (1049236 and 1049245), but no firm release dates. Best Buy has been a launching pad for many high-profile phones so if this were to be an exclusive for the retailer, it wouldn’t come as too much of a surprise.
The question now, though, is which carrier will offer the phone. Is the timing with Verizon’s announcement just a coincidence or will Apple remain loyal to its loyal AT&T customers who should have been able to get a white iPhone while the carrier had its exclusivity deal?
These questions, and more, will be answered soon. That is, unless Apple has to delay everything again. [[Apple]]
