It’s 2011! Check back into the world of music with the good folks at mxdwn.com and this week’s Unplugging column. This week’s column features stories on a riot that broke out at TSOL show in Los Angeles and more.
Sometimes shows can get dangerous, like in the case of the TSOL show on January 6th. A small riot broke out outside of the legendary Key Club in LA after bouncers got into a fight with members of the audience. Police showed up to a hail of rocks and bottles and proceeded to shut down the Sunset Strip and the clubs in the surrounding area. Ultimately, police arrested six people—three for fighting, three for throwing rocks and bottles—and two additional patrons were injured.
Trent Reznor just revealed a few bits of interesting information in an interview via Livestream with the New York Times. Reznor revealed first that he and Atticus Ross will be scoring the new film “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.” Then, he went on to address the possibility of another Nine Inch Nails tour, saying that it is not “out of the question” and adding that there is “no tour booked at the moment.” Hoping for even more updates soon.
New music this week includes Bright Eyes, The Strokes, and The Beastie Boys. Bright Eyes has just released their new track, “Shell Games”, for free from their forthcoming album, The People’s Key. The new album is confirmed to be released on Feb. 15, 2011. Also, Bassist Nikolai Fraiture recently spoke on behalf of his band, The Strokes, and revealed the approximate release date for their long-awaited fourth studio album – March 2011. Finally, Beastie Boys’ Mike D has confirmed their album Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2 after bandmate Adam Yauch’s all clear from cancer.
And lastly, if you’re going to miss out on Roger Waters’ European tour of the Pink Floyd classic The Wall, have no fear. Waters recently announced that he will be filming all six performances of the album at London’s O2 Arena in May.
