Senator blames Obama for tepid WikiLeaks response

A Republican senator is angry at the Obama administration for its allegedly lackluster and tardy response to WikiLeaks.

As TG Daily previously reported, the controversial site recently leaked over three million classified and highly embarrassing documents stolen from various government agencies.

“What troubles me this is the third [data] dump and the administration didn’t seem too concerned about the first two dumps,” Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz) told CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

“[You know], it’s only when it starts to embarrass the State Department because they have cables that are very…revealing about what some of our diplomats have said about other world leaders that we appear to be all that [excited] about it.”

According to Kyl, the US government undoubtedly could have “acted sooner” against WikiLeaks’ founder Julian Assange.

“[And that is why] Senator Ben Cardin and I are going to be working on [formulating] some [new] legislation.

“I think [it will] enable us to more broadly be able to charge people even if they’re not handing over information to an enemy, for example,” he added.
