Toyota is reportedly preparing to refresh its popular Prius lineup with the launch of two new vehicles in 2011.
According to the Associated Press, the automaker will begin selling a Prius station wagon next summer as either a 2011 or 2012 model.
The company is also slated to roll out a plug-in version of the Prius, which will be capable of traveling up to 30 miles on a single charge.
Although Toyota spokesman Sam Butto refused to comment on any specific product plans, he did confirm that the auto manufacturer would be launching “some additional Prius products.”
Still, reports of a Prius station wagon certainly do make sense, as Toyota has made little secret of its plans to transform the sleek hybrid into a family of vehicles.
Of course, it should be noted that recent Prius sales have fallen flat due to a massive 10 million vehicle recall over the past year.
However, the two new Prius models certainly stand a fair chance of jumpstarting sales of Toyota’s flagship hybrid lineup.
