No need to worry – the guys of Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, and Megadeth have announced the November 2nd release of their performance on DVD. You’ll get to see the complete sets from all four bands, some interviews, and behind the scenes footage.
HBO has been on the music news radar this week with their Trent Reznor and Bruce Springsteen projects. HBO and BBC productions have announced that they will be moving forward with “Year Zero,” the sci-fi epic that Trent Reznor has narrated in his music as well as an Alternative Reality Game. HBO will also be airing the new Bruce Springsteen documentary “The Promise: The Making of Darkness On The Edge of Town” on October 7th at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
Several bands announced tours this week, all of which sound like a pretty unique experience. Richie Hawtin has decided to embrace his once-famous moniker Plastikman and is planning to go on tour with some of his most famous material from his early career, setting it to a stunning visual show. (Also, he’s releasing a comprehensive retrospective collection entitled Arkives – containing every major release and even some rare releases, so check that out.) Ben Foids has announced a US tour in support of his and author Nick Hornby’s collaboration, Lonely Avenue. Front Line Assembly is also embarking on a US tour in support of their new album Improvised. Electronic. Device. And finally, Peaches has confirmed the highly anticipated North American tour of her critically acclaimed production of Peaches Christ Superstar.
Big Four to Release DVD of Bulgaria Show: The guys from the Big Four tour – Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, and Megadeth – will be releasing a DVD of their Sofia, Bulgaria performance from June of this year. Release date is still unknown.
Springsteen Doc to Air on HBO Next Month: “The Promise:The Making of Darkness On The Edge of Town,” the Bruce Springsteen documentary that premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, will be airing next month on HBO. “The Promise” will air Oct. 7 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Ben Folds Announces US Tour to Support Album Collab with Nick Hornby: Lonely Avenue, the collaboration between Ben Folds and author Nick Hornby, hit stores September 28th, and now Folds has announced a US tour in support of the release. The tour kicks off in November and ends with Thanksgiving weekend homecoming performance at Nashville’s Tennessee Performing Arts Center to benefit the Nashville Symphony.
