Microsoft is prepping its first Windows 7 (beta) service pack for a July launch.
The confirmation of a new SP for the recently launched OS prompted company spokesperson Gavriella Schuster to reassure businesses and end-users that Service Pack 1 “would not contain any features” specific to Windows 7 itself.
”For Windows 7, SP1 will simply be the combination of updates already available through Windows Update and additional hotfixes based on feedback by our customers and partners,” said Schuster.
“In other words, customers can feel confident about deploying Windows 7 now.”
Schuster added that Microsoft’s upcoming SP1 for Windows Server 2008 R2 would feature advanced virtualization capabilities to help “enhance” the Windows VDI experience, including:
- RemoteFX – Enables a rich, local-like desktop environment over networks.
- Dynamic Memory – Allows Windows Server Hyper-V to dynamically allocate more or less memory to each VM as needed, thereby providing a more scalable and better performing VDI environment.
