San Francisco (CA) – Apple CEO Steve Jobs has returned to Club Cupertino after a six-month medical leave of absence.
“Steve is back to work,” a company spokesman confirmed in a statement obtained by Reuters. “He’s currently at Apple a few days a week and working from home the remaining days. We are very glad to have him back.”
Jobs – who was treated for a rare form of pancreatic cancer in 2004 – recently underwent a liver transplant in Tennesee. The popular CEO had initially blamed his extreme weight loss on a hormone imbalance, but later admitted that the condition was “more complex” than originally thought.
Although Jobs officially remained involved at Apple during his leave of absence, Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook was responsible for overseeing the company’s day-to-day operations. As such, some analysts speculate that Jobs could eventually transition to more of an advisory role, with Cook assuming the role and title of CEO.
