Sony Ericsson intros two "green" phones

Because green is the new black, Sony Ericsson has joined the bandwagon and has introduced two phones which it claims are greener than the average phone today.

The phones – the C901 Green Heart and the Naite are being heralded by the company as “pioneer phones” which will “migrate into the wider portfolio enabling the company to continually reduce the environmental impact of its entire portfolio, to become a benchmark for the industry”.

What twaddle.

What are the specs? The C901 GreenHeart has a five megapixel camera, a built-in flash, the ability to put your pictures on the web straight away and face detection.  It supports GSM, HPRS, Edge, and UMTS/HSPA. It weighs 107 grammes, has a 240×320 pixels, supports up to 120MB and supports the Memory Stick Micro. And its “green” credentials? It uses recycled plastics, has “more eco friendly packaging” and an energy efficient display.

So what about the Naite? It has a two megapix camera, up to 2.5X digital zoom, Bluetooth stereo, Google search, and supports video blogging and video recording. It comes out in the third quarter and includes a one click access to functions, support email and texting, has video calling, and supports GSM, GPRS and EDGE.  And its “green” credentials? You can “organize your life the eco friendly way” and it also uses recycled plastics.
