It’s 2017, new gadgets, new technologies, new phones. The two tigers in the smartphone market are at it again: this time with the Samsung S8 vs iPhone 8. Who wins the battle? What new features are we expecting?
The Samsung Galaxy S8: The expected
Display: S8 will have a 5.5 and 5.1 display of 2160 X 3840 with 4k super curved AMOLED display.
Storage: internal capacity of 64GB and 256GB expandable.
RAM and CPU: the S8 will run a 9810 Exynos Samsung Processor or a Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 Processor. Ram size will range from 4 to 6 GB.
Camera: The Front Camera will have wide lenses and angles with 12MP. The Rear Camera comes with clear optical image stabilization, video recording of 4K, and a 14MP.
Potential surprises with the Galaxy S8
Iris Scanner: Samsung is rumored to give S8 and S8 plus more security with the Iris scanner. This is intended to increase security for authentication of mobile payments.
Desktop Mode: this will be another game-changing feature of the S8. The trick is to allow users to connect their Galaxy S8 to any monitor and other peripherals, and just like that, a desktop computing experience can be enjoyed.
Beast Mode: This feature will be a boost for gamers and similar heavy-resource functions.
Support for MicroSD: the Galaxy S8 comes with a MicroSD slot for up to 2TB. Something Apple surely won’t do.
The iPhone 8
Display: the iPhone 8 comes with a 4.7, 5.5, and 5.8 inch display of 1920 X 1310 Curved OLED.
Storage: Internal storage sizes come in 32GB, 128GB, and 256GB.
Camera: The iPhone 8’s rear camera comes with a dual-OIS, a video recording of 4K, and a dual-lens of 12MP.
RAM and CPU: comes with an A11 processor and RAM sizes of 3-4GB.
The iPhone 8: some surprises
If you are journeying from the iPhone 6 to 8, which seem to be the case with many iPhone users, you will surely find surprises.
Storage: With a storage capacity as high as 256 internally, that’s something to be wowed about.
Home Button: The home button is going to be incorporated into the display screen.
Wireless Charging: the iPhone 8 will feature a more robust wireless charging, supporting charging from a 15 feet distance.
Some final thoughts
Though the iPhone 8 is rumored to have an M11 motion-coprocessor and A11 processor, it’s still not certain as to whether that can compare with that of Galaxy 8’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 830.
The Apple’s silicon has always been good; especially it’s a-series – more performance, display, and graphic quality, which would be very challenging for Samsung to outcompete.
When it comes to RAM, the iPhone 8 wouldn’t compare itself to the Galaxy 8, which is to come with 4GB RAM.
Conclusion
These are the specs. Which phone do you go for? Android or iOS? Let’s wait till the launch.
