There’s many elements of Star Wars that would have to be in The Force Awakens, or else there will be a geek revolt world wide. One of the most important elements, of course, is John Williams’s music. Williams is composing the music for The Force Awakens, and he says that you can count on the original, classic themes to return as well.
As the famed composer told Vanity Fair, “It’s all a continuation of an initial set of ideas. It’s a bit like adding paragraphs to a letter that’s been going on for a number of years.” There will of course be new music for “characters I haven’t met.”
Williams told Vanity Fair that there are similarities working with JJ Abrams and George Lucas. “He always left me free to write the music, and JJ’s done the same thing. His latest instruction to me was, ‘Just do your thing.’ He is a delightful person. Enormously bright.”
While there are certain to be the usual rousing themes we all love from Star Wars, we’re dying to hear what new music Williams has cooking for the Force Awakens. As Abrams told him, he’s free to do his thing, and left up to his own devices, we’re sure he’ll come up with some great stuff.
The Force Awakens hits theaters December 18.
