With the new year just around the corner, Star Wars speculation and rumor will be going into hyperspace. While there’s gotta be at least two Star Wars rumors a minute, this one’s gained a lot of traction in the last day or so, and we preface it by recommending you take it with a grain of salt, but with all that said, here goes…
Reports hit the net that there’s already a Star Wars teaser trailer finished that’s pretty short and to the point, and if the descriptions we’ve read of it are true, it should give audiences just enough of a taste of what’s to come.
There’s been some speculation that with Star Wars now being under the Disney umbrella that the trailer could play before Into the Woods, but now according to a number of net sources, including Screen Rant, the trailer may debut before the last installment of The Hobbit, which comes out on December 17.
This story got around the net pretty quickly before the same site, Screen Rant, claimed that “there’s a very strong likelihood it will play’ before the The Hobbit, but that Disney has “bigger plans” for the trailer. And indeed, it would be hard to believe that the trailer would appear out of nowhere without some notice somewhere, but if it did, that would really be cool, much like how Star Wars practically appeared out of nowhere in 1977 and blew us all away.
We’re pretty sure of this much, we doubt it’s going to get leaked early like The Avengers trailer. As we just reported, security was so tight on the set, it verged on Orwellian paranoia, and when the time is right, JJ Abrams and company will definitely let the cat out of the bag.
