Edyn is a startup company raising seed money on Kickstarter and they are looking to produce two products to help you make your garden grow; the Edyn Garden Sensor and the Edyn Water Valve.
The Edyn Garden Sensor is a solar powered, WiFi-connected device that monitors soil, light, temperature and weather conditions and feeds that information to the Edyn Water Valve that connects to any automated watering system. Best of all they both have a great design.
The Edyn smart garden system lets you know what’s happening in your garden at all times. Whether you’re a novice gardener or managing a small-scale organic farm, Edyn is there to take the guesswork out of gardening. Inserted in the soil, the Edyn Garden Sensor gathers and analyzes data about changing weather and soil conditions. The Edyn App displays this data as a real-time snapshot of your garden, and pushes alerts and suggestions to maximize plant health. A separate component, the Edyn Water Valve, uses the data collected by the sensor to smartly control your existing watering system, watering your plants only when needed. With advanced tracking technology and intuitive design, the Edyn smart garden system keeps you connected to your garden or farm so you can grow healthier plants.
To test the soil in your garden, Edyn passes a harmless electrical signal through it and measures how that signal is altered or attenuated by water and soil additives, such as organic fertilizer, lime or compost. We cross-reference this information with our database and the other members of the Edyn community. We’ve calibrated Edyn’s instruments to be sensitive enough to detect even the smallest changes in the soil’s electrical properties that are associated with shifts in moisture, acidity and fertility.
The company is looking to raise $100,000 and they are already over $65K with 32 days left to grow. Check out their Kickstarter page here.
