It’s been in development for nearly twenty years, but Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin will finally be back as the Man From U.N.C.L.E. returns, this time on the big screen, next January.
This one had been in development for so long, we pretty much forgot about it because it went through so many screenwriters and directors. You may recall that at one point Steven Soderberg was going to direct, but now Guy Ritchie’s onboard, which is definitely a mixed blessing. The movie’s finally getting made, but it could end up being all flash, like a lot of previous Ritchie flicks.
Then again, he could be a good director to bring the Man From U.N.C.L.E. back to life, because trying to take it too seriously could be deadly. This movie will be, you guessed it, an origin story, about how the two spies came together. Henry Cavill, the new Superman, will play Napoleon Solo, and Armie Hammer will be playing Illya Kuryakin.
U.N.C.L.E. will be hitting the big screen on January 16, 2015.
