Shia has been lauded by Steven Spielberg. He crapped on that. He got big bucks for doing the Transformers movies. He crapped on that. He really isn’t much to look at when you consider he has been the love interest of Megan Fox (in real life, too, apparently), Michelle Monaghan, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Sarah Roemer. But, he just got a new trailer for Charlie Countryman, and all may be forgiven.
Of Transformers, Shia once said:
There are a lot of people that liked the second one, but I hated it. I just didn’t enjoy it. I thought we missed the mark. I got confused, I couldn’t see what the fuck was going on, you know with certain robots… I couldn’t decipher what was happening. There were storyline paths that I just wouldn’t have gone down.
On Steven Spielberg, after he was cast as Indiana Jones’ son in, admittedly, the execrable Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull:
I love Steven. I have a relationship with Steven that supersedes our business work. And believe me, I talk to him often enough to know that I’m not out of line. And I would never disrespect the man. I think he’s a genius, and he’s given me my whole life. He’s done so much great work that there’s no need for him to feel vulnerable about one film. But when you drop the ball you drop the ball.
On his own profession of acting:
It’s a profession of bottom-feeders and heartbroken people.
Okay, he isn’t that annoying to me, but he sure as heck does annoy a lot of people. However, there is a trailer below for Shia’s latest movie, Charlie Countryman, and it looks amazing and he looks amazing in it. In fact, The Hollywood Reporter says:
With a scruffy demeanor and wide-eyed enthusiasm, LaBeouf projects a degree of emotional recklessness that’s both disarming and disconcerting to watch.
The plot is about a Shia’s character, the eponymous Charlie, who is a young man undergoing a violent and dark journey into a bizarred underworld. The film is from Fredrik Bond, a man better known for his direction of slick commercials. Check out Bond’s Heineken ad here (he is pretty talented, I’d say):

Charlie Countryman’s mother, Melissa Leo, dies but reappears as a ghost to ask him to go to Bucharest. On the plane, his seatmate, who had struck up a friendship with Charlie, dies. The man’s daughter is a beautiful cellist, Gabi Banyai (Evan Rachel Wood), and Charlie falls in love with her.
But Gabi’s still married to a psychopathic Romanian drug dealer named Nigel (Mads Mikkelsen) who, invariably, wants to see Charlie dead. But, this is love for Charlie and he is willing to put everything on the line for Gabi. And so it goes. The synopsis doesn’t do justice to the trailer which, I sincerely hope, doesn’t disappoint and make us rethink our opinion of Shia. It also has Rupert Grint, Ron Weasley from Harry Potter. We are sold on this movie! Bring it on!
