Mobile enthusiasts already know about Rikomagic’s MK802 III (Rockchip RK3066) and MK802 IV (RK3188) HDMI TV sticks, both of which run Google’s wildly popular Android Jelly Bean.
However, the device maker is now going Linux with the MK802III LE and MK802IV LE quad-core, as the devices are slated to run Picuntu OS (Ubuntu).
According to CNX Software, the Cloudsto MK802III LE will be hitting the streets first.
Specs? A Rockchip RK3066 dual-core Cortex A9 clocked @ 1.6Ghz paired with a Mali-400 MP4 GPU, 1GB of RAM and a 16GB Micro SD card preloaded with PicUntu.
Additional features include HDMI output (1080p), WiFi connectivity and 2 x USB ports.
“It’s not very clear if the hardware will be slightly tweaked [with] smaller NAND flash, as I understand it is required for booting, or if it will just be exactly the same hardware as the Android version – with the addition of a 16GB micro SD card preloaded with Picuntu,” folks at CNX Software explained.
Unfortunately, pricing and availability of the devices have yet to be announced, but TG Daily will keep you posted.
