Taiwan-based Inhon has debuted what it claims is the world’s thinnest and lightest laptop, weighing in at 870g (1.9 pounds) and 10.7mm.
According to Engadget, the Windows 8 Blade 13 Carbon laptop undercuts NEC’s 12.8mm Lavie X by a 2mm, and is 5g lighter than the 875g LaVie Z.
Specs? An Intel Core i5 or i7 processor, 1080p display, 128GB or 256GB SSD and 4GB of RAM. The standard version of Blade 13 Carbon laptop is priced at a cool $1,350.
However, a scaled-back fiberglass iteration (12.6mm and 2.6 pounds)
carries a $1,000 price tag.
The uber-thin laptop is slated to hit the Taiwanese streets this June. Unfortunately, the Blade is unlikely to be sold in the US anytime soon, which is really too bad. Then again, if the Blade 13 Carbon does really well in Asia, perhaps Inhon will be temped to try its luck in the States, in one form factor in or another.
