Amazon’s upcoming Zombieland TV series has secured a pilot episode and most likely an entire season of the post-apocalyptic zombie series. And yes, Zombieland already has a cast.
As you can see the image below (left-to-right), there is Izabela Vidovic (Up All Night) as Little Rock, Kirk Ward (The Island) as Tallahassee, Maiara Walsh (Desperate Housewives) as Wichita, and Tyler Ross (Milkshake) as Columbus.
As Rudie Obias of GiantFreakingRobot notes, the TV version appears to be somewhat goofier than its big-screen counterparts, at least based on the picture. Personally, I’m not exactly sure about that, as we should probably wait until watching the pilot before making such an assessment.
Then again, Obias likely has a good point, as it is clear that Amazon does not want Zombieland to be a Walking Dead clone, which is essentially a series fraught with over dramatic moments and imminent peril.
The TV series is expected to kick off after the events of the Zombieland movie, where a group of survivors are wandering through the United States. The original characters will be joined by two new individuals, Fred and Ainsley, who were office workers before the zombie apocalypse.
Zombieland’s movie writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, wrote the TV pilot, and will serve as executive producers on the series, alongside the movie’s producer, Gavin Polone.
It probably should be noted that Zombieland was originally written to be a TV series, but then evolved into a big-screen movie in 2009.
