There are plenty of Android-powered set-top boxes on the market today. Typically, these devices offer a few gigabytes of storage at best – which often forces users to resort to memory cards for additional storage space.
Fortunately, Samsung has just announced a new Android-based media server dubbed the HomeSync which packs one terabyte of storage and offers plenty of room for digital media.
The box is powered by a 1.7 GHz dual-core processor paired with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of SSD storage. The HomeSync is also equipped with integrated Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Ethernet, along with a pair of USB 3.0 ports, a micro USB port, and HDMI output.
Unsurprisingly, the OS is none other than Google’s Android Jelly Bean – which allows users to not only watch content stored on the internal drives of the box, but also to stream content online from YouTube and run various Android apps.
The device can be synchronized with up to eight different accounts, allowing users to sync data across devices and access shared or private storage.
Unfortunately, pricing for the set top box is still pending at this time, although we do know the box is slated to ship in select countries starting this April.
