It almost seems like the Android-powered mini-PC market grows by at least a few devices per day.
Indeed, last month we took a closer look at a new Android mini PC designed by Norhtec that sells for a cool $90. And today we’re checking out the Measy U2C, an uber-mini PC with a $75 price point.
One of the most interesting things about this little Android minicomputer is that it boasts an integrated web cam and microphone. Plus, the company plans to offer an optional docking station for the minicomputer a little later this month.
Key specs include a Rockchip RK3066 dual core processor, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of storage, and Android 4.1 (base OS). While I do think the camera and microphone are interesting features, it seems to me that it would be very difficult to arrange this mini PC to shoot decent video for most users. Think about it – if you have to plug this into the HDMI port on the front of your TV, all you’re going to get is a shot of the ceiling.
Then again, this is where the optional docking station comes in because it is equipped with its own HDMI output, allowing users to position the minicomputer so the camera has a good view, which reportedly works well with Skype video calls and other video chat applications.
The docking station also features a pair of USB ports that allows users to easily connect devices like mice, keyboards, and other peripherals. As expected, the PC-on-a-stick also supports integrated Wi-Fi, along withpopular audio and video formats.
This little minicomputer is cheap so it’s easy enough to overlook the questionable usability of that integrated camera. One can only hope the optional docking station will be reasonably priced as well.
