Alcatel isn’t exactly a name that jumps to mind when you think about Android tablets, even if the company did recently introduce its Evo tablet.
This week, the company introduced a new lineup of cheap Android-powered tablets dubbed the One Touch Tab series. Unfortunately, the tablets won’t hit the streets until Q3 of 2013, so you do have somewhat of a wait if you’re interested.
The tablets are slated to run Android 4.1 and will available in three different sizes. The smallest? The $149 One Touch Tab 7 HD which is tipped to have a seven-inch display at a resolution of 1280 x 800, along with 1 GB of RAM and a dual core 1.6 GHz processor.
Next up is the One Touch Tab 8 HD, with an eight-inch screen (1024 x 768) and a $179 price tag. Both of the above-mentioned tablets are loaded with 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of integrated storage, a microSD card slot for memory expansion, a two-megapixel rear camera and a VGA resolution front-facing camera.
Those wanting a tablet that’s a bit more basic with an even lower price can opt for the One Touch Tab 7 priced at a cool $129. This deice has a seven-inch screen with a resolution of 1024 x 600. Additional specs? 1 GB of RAM, a single core 1 GHz processor, a front facing VGA camera (no rear camera), 4 GB of storage and a microSD card slot.
Personally, I’m betting the 7 HD will prove to be the most popular tablet of the trio with its $149 price tag and fairly respectable specs.
