If you’re an avid sports fan, odds are you spend a lot of TV time watching ESPN.
So if you happen to own an Xbox 360, you’ll probably be glad to learn that a new update for the Xbox ESPN app has landed, bringing with it WatchESPN capability – which is part of ESPN’s expanded platform on Microsoft’s flagship console.
Content available on the Xbox 360 now includes programming from ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPNU, ESPN 3, and ESPN Goal Line/ Buzzer Beater. The streaming service is available to all Xbox Live Gold members who access the above-mentioned networks via a participating affiliated cable provider. Meaning, if you don’t have cable service with a participating provider, you won’t be able to view the streaming content using your console.
If you do have a participating cable provider, you’ll be able to watch content in HD quality, including live programming and special events, such as those broadcasted by the NFL, MLB and NBA.
New ESPN app features also include a My Sports area that allows you to choose your favorite sports and teams to follow, along with a Mini Guide that offers a preview and quick access to all live events on the bottom of the screen. Meanwhile, split screen capability allows you to watch two events simultaneously – or a live event on one screen and highlights on the other. The app also supports Kinect for navigating through the app using your voice or gestures.
Current affiliated partners for the service include Time Warner Cable, Bright House Networks, Verizon FiOS TV, XFINITY® TV from Comcast, and Midcontinent Communications. The WatchESPN app is also available on mobile devices including the iPad and iPhone.
