Boutique computer maker Habey is offering up a new and impressively compact small form factor PC dubbed the BIS-6922.
This little device measures 9.6 x 6.1 x 2.1-inches and is dead silent thanks to its passive cooling system. Typically, passively cooled PCs are associated with lower performance processors under the hood and anemic specs.
Not so this computer, as the versatile Habey can be equipped with a wide variety of Intel Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge processors (second or third-generation Intel Core i3, i5, or i7 CPUs). The compact machine also boasts two RAM slots supporting up to 8 GB of memory, along with a nicely placed 2.5-inch drive bay.
In addition, the Habey is equipped with PCIe and mini PCIe expansion ports, while connectivity options include HDMI out, DVI out, VGA out, serial ports, a microphone and headphone Jack, line in jacks for audio, dual Ethernet jacks, and a quartet of USB 2.0 ports. Unfortunately, the machine lacks integrated Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, but you should be able to add those via USB dongles.
For now, Habey is keeping mum on exactly how much this slick little machine will cost, although the company’s less powerful Intel Atom powered minicomputers typically sell in the $300 range.
As such, I’d wager that with a significantly more powerful processor than an Atom, we are probably looking at more than the above-mentioned amount for this new computer. Hopefully, it will still be priced competitively.
