The hype surrounding Microsoft Windows 8 has been centered primarily around tablets and laptop hybrids.
But that doesn’t mean desktop users can’t get in on the touch-screen fun. Indeed, many journalists, analysts and veteran Windows users believe a full Windows 8 experience can only be achieved with a touch-screen interface.
Enter LG’s Touch 10 monitor which allows PC desktop users to control the Windows 8 UI with touch gestures – just like on a tablet or hybrid device. Meaning, all 10 fingers can be used simultaneously, with users dragging and rotating multiple items.
The 23″ monitor – which can also be paired with a capacitive stylus – boasts an In-Plane Switching (IPS) panel, along with 1920×1080 resolution.
Although pricing has yet to be announced, we do know the monitor will be hitting the Korean streets in November, followed markets in Europe and elsewhere.
Personally, I think most Windows 8 users will ultimately be persuaded to upgrade to a touch-screen – an interface they are already intimately familiar with from interacting with their smartphones and tablets.
Obviously, accelerated adoption is almost completely dependent on cost, so hopefully LG’s 23″ Touch 10 monitor will be priced fairly competitively, especially if it will be going on the market around the upcoming holiday season.
