The fourth episode of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn has gone live. Set at the beginning of the human and Covenant war, the live action mini-series depicts the events leading up to Halo 4.
When we left off in episode 3, Corbulo Academy was being attacked by the Covenant in a surprise invasion that seemed to leave even the top officers in shock as they attempted to evacuate all personnel.
Enter The Master Chief – who unexpectedly fights alongside the surviving cadets in the ultimate battle for survival.
Forward Unto Dawn is slated to span a total of five episodes, while a special extended cut of the series will be packaged with the Halo 4 Limited Edition. A Blu-ray/DVD release – scheduled for December 4 – includes behind-the-scenes featurettes, commentary from the Forward crew, along with concept art and visual effects models.
As we’ve previously discussed here on TG, Halo is a multi-billion dollar science fiction video game franchise (originally created by Bungie) managed by 343 Industries and owned by Microsoft Studios. The property has obviously expanded exponentially since the early days of Combat Evolved, and now includes Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo Wars (RTS), Halo Reach, Combat Evolved Anniversary (HD) and the upcoming Halo 4.
There are also multiple bestselling novels and graphic novels which have sold quite well (the Halo Graphic Novel shipped more than 100,000 copies), with a number of them appearing on Publisher Weekly’s bestseller charts.
Tor’s first three novels sold more than one million copies by April 2000, while Ghosts of Onyx, Contact Harvest, The Cole Protocol and the first volume of Cryptum made the well-respected New York Times bestseller lists.
Halo 4 goes live on November 6, 2012.
