Motorola’s successor to the Atrix phone is now getting its just desserts.
The device is joining many other Motorola devices since the Google acquisition to get the update to Ice Cream Sandwich, known officially as Android version 4.0.
The update will be heading to the device soon via an over-the-air software push. However, those who can’t wait can just go into their phone menu to download the update manually, according to AT&T.
Many Motorola devices have been seeing upgrades lately, thanks most likely to the fact that Motorola’s smartphone operations now belong under the Google umbrella.
Ice Cream Sandwich is one of the biggest updates to Android yet, and includes such features as scanning your face to unlock the phone, a much more robust speech-to-text software program, and an entire platform of data sharing that focuses on Near Field Communication (NFC).
Several other manufacturers have pledged support for the new update, and a bunch of phones currently running an older version of Android.
Ice Cream Sandwich is now powering more than 20% of active Android devices, according Google’s most recently released official statistics.
