Most techies automatically associate Monster Digital with high-end headphones or expensive cables for home theater and audio systems.
Of course, audio isn’t all the company does, as it maintains a division known as Monster Digital which offers memory cards and other storage products. Recently, the company rolled out a new line of SSDs dubbed the Daytona Series.
The Daytona Series drives employ a 2.5-inch form factor and promise performance with read speeds rated at 550 MB/s and write speeds rated at 515 MB/s. Monster Digital also says the drives are capable of 60,000 IOPS and use a 7 mm universal fit stainless steel case. This means they should easily fit into most notebook form factors for upgrades.
The SSDs are available as bare drives in 90 GB, 120 GB, 240 GB, and 480 GB versions. Prices range from $99.99 to $479.99 depending on capacity. Folks looking for a DIY upgrade for a desktop computer can also get certain capacities bundled with an Easy Installation Kit.
Capacities available with the Easy Installation Kit include the 120 GB, 240 GB, and 480 GB versions. The 120 GB version sells for $134.99, the 240 GB version is $234.95, and the 480 GB version sells for $484.95. The versions bundled with the Easy Installation Kit will be available at the end of September.
The installation kit includes everything needed to install the SSD, including a SATA 3 to USB 3.0 adapter, 3.5-inch drive bay adapter, and a quick-start guide.
