A number of industry heavyweights debuted their latest tablet lineups this week at IFA 2012 in Berlin, including Asus, Samsung and Sony.
Not to be outdone, Lenovo has introduced a pair of new Android tablets: the IdeaTab A2109 and IdeaTab A2107. We use ther term “new” rather loosely in this particular case, because Best Buy apparently started selling the A2109 a few days ago while the A2107 was spied slipping through the FCC approval process earlier this month.
Nevertheless, IFA 2012 marked the first official unveil of the tablets.
The A2109 is a nine-inch tablet sporting a resolution of 1280 x 800 with a four-point multitouch screen. The tablet – which weighs 1.3 pounds and measures 9.3 x 6.5 x 0.5-inches – is powered by a 1.2 GHz Nvidia Tegra 3 SOC, allowing the device to support HD video playback and more.
The A2109 also boasts 1 GB of RAM and will be offered in versions with 8 GB or 16 GB of storage. Both iterations are equipped with a 1.3 megapixel front camera and three-megapixel rear camera. The tablet offers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS capabilities and an 8-hour battery run time. The 8 GB version of the A2109 is expected to sell for about $249.
Lenovo also rolled its seven-inch IdeaTab A2107 which measures 7.6 x 4.8 x 0.5-inches and weighs 0.9 pounds. The tablet is powered by a 1 GHz MTK 6567 ARM Cortex A9 processor, with the the seven-inch screen boasting a resolution of 1024 x 600 and supporting four points of touch.
The tablet is loaded with 512 MB of RAM in its base version, while other iterations are packed with 1 GB of RAM. The IdeaTab A2107 is available with 4 GB or 16 GB of storage and features a 0.3 megapixel front camera, along with a two-megapixel rear camera. Additional specs include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, an FM radio tuner, optional integrated 3G modem and eight hours of runtime per charge.
