Acer is showcasing two upcoming Windows 8 tablets at Computex 2012 in Taiwan: the Iconia W510 and W700.
The W510 boasts three different modes of touchscreen operation – allowing the user to touch, type, and view. Default mode is set to “standard” tablet, while “productivity” mode allows the device to connect to a detachable keyboard dock for typing and extended battery time, with up to 18 hours of use.
The tablet can also be rotated 295° in presentation mode for watching video, easy web surfing and PowerPoint presentations. The W510 has a 10.1-inch touchscreen with wide viewing angles and will be price at around $800.
The next tablet is the Iconia W700, which Acer claims is the best-performing Windows 8 tablet around – with the added versatility of a cradle that allows multiple viewing options, including landscape where the screen tilts up to 70°.
The tablet can also be tilted up 20° in landscape orientation for more convenient touch operation, while portrait mode facilitates easy viewing for browsing websites and reading. The W700 features three USB 3.0 ports, along with an 11.6-inch full HD resolution touchscreen and Dolby Home Theater sound.
The W700 is powered by an Intel Ivy Bridge processor, with NetbookNews confirming the existence of a Thunderbolt port. The machine is rumored to cost between $799 and $999. Reports also claim that Acer plans on push the tablet as a desktop replacement.
