Universal Pictures has released a new trailer for its upcoming Snow White adaptation, Snow White and the Huntsman.
While the previous trailer focused on the film’s leads – Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth – this new trailer shows us a lot more about Charlize Theron’s depiction of the queen.
The trailer debuted during an episode of Top Chef, in which Theron made a guest appearance, and it’s made me really look forward to her performance, and think that perhaps this film won’t be a complete loss.
After finally getting the first full trailers for each of the upcoming Snow White adaptations – this one and Relativity medias’ Mirror, Mirror – I’d mostly lost any interest in seeing either. Mirror, Mirror is just to goofy looking, turning the tale into slapstick and fart jokes, and Huntsman has Kristen Stewart in what appears to be the same role she always plays.
This trailer, at least, shows me that there will be enough things that are not Kristen Stewart to concentrate on, so it might actually be redeemable. We’ll find out at release, of course.
The official synopsis of Snow White and the Huntsman is thus:
In the epic action-adventure “Snow White and the Huntsman,” Kristen Stewart (“Twilight”) plays the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Oscar® winner Charlize Theron) who is out to destroy her. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth, “Thor”) who was dispatched to kill her. Sam Claflin (“Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”) joins the cast as the prince long enchanted by Snow White’s beauty and power.
The film, which also stars Sam Claflin, Ray Winstone, Ian McShane, Eddie Izzard, Bob Hoskins, Toby Jones, Eddie Marsan, Stephen Graham, Ray Winstone, and Lily Cole hits theaters June 1, 2012.
