Leica is going to pimp your Smartphone Cameras

If you’re an avid shutterbug and smartphone cameras have failed to excite your guts till now, it’s time you have your wishes granted. Everyone knows what Leica is all about and what it aspires to offer to its digital imaging products.

The 100-year-old brand has been the epitome of top-class photography, revered by people across the globe. And now, with smartphone cameras being the stuff that everyone wants to carry and flaunt, Leica has taken its imaging quotient to the next level.

You might argue that the likes of Apple iPhone and Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S series along with the Microsoft Lumia are more than capable shooters. But truth be told, Leica is a beast that aspires to take smartphone photography to the next level.

Leica = Carl Zeiss

Most users in India will be familiar with Carl Zeiss optics that were first introduced in the erstwhile Nokia Lumia 1020 smartphone. Even the Microsoft Lumia 950 & 950 XL borrow the Carl Zeiss element and it’s safe to say that the Huawei P9 with Leica optics is as good as those.

The Huawei P9 phones get dual-lens each at 12-megapixels, wherein each lens is entrusted with capturing colour as well as black & white tones. Much to our surprise, the cameras do not offer optical image stabilisation (OIS) but hopefully, Leica has it covered.

What More?

The P9 series is reminiscent to the Nexus 6P in terms of design and that’s not a bad thing at all. It’s got Apple iPhone 6S-like 3D touch support, big size battery unit, 4GB of RAM and top-end hardware to go with.

The company had partnered with Chinese brand Huawei and now we’re finally seeing the outcome of their set-up in thick-skin. The phones that have been blessed with camera lenses approved by Leica are P9 and P9 Plus. What you can expect from these devices is the imaging quality that can match the premium flagships, if not better them.
