Yahoo today ehanced its presence on mobile devices by adding HTML 5 video support to iPad and iPhone versions of Yahoo Web sites, and launching two new apps to the Android Market.
Yahoo! Mail for Android and Yahoo! Messenger for Android are the search company’s first official apps on Google’s mobile platform.
“Both apps let you compose messages with rich text, express yourself through our many Yahoo! emoticons, access Yahoo! Address Book and phone contacts, as well as share photos that you’ve taken on your phone,” said Yahoo product manager Lee Parry on the official Yahoo Mail blog.
Additionally, Yahoo has updated its mobile e-mail and news Web sites to allow full support for HTML 5, a replacement for Flash that is used by the iPhone and iPod Touch.
The Mail and Messenger apps are available now from the Android Market.
