Illinois-based manufacturer Roehr has debuted an all-new electric motorcycle called the eSuperSport based, in part, on a Hyosung Motors USA GT650R.
Equipped with a 67 horsepower AC induction motor capable of generating 80 lbs-ft torque, the eSuperSport reaches top speeds over 100 miles per hour.
Powered by a 7.7 kWh LiFePO4 battery, the electric motorcycle boasts a range of 75 miles on a full charge.
The bike is equipped with a 1,500 watt onboard charger, and takes roughly seven hours to reach full capacity.
All in all, the bike is very respectable in terms of performance.
Still, we wouldn’t call the motorcycle the best value on the market. While superior bikes like the Sora can range over $40,000, the eSuperSport retails for just $17,995.
However, Oregon-based Brammo is selling a comprable model called the Empulse for under $14,000, although that specific bike has less torque than the eSuperSport.
Clearly, a little competition is usually better for consumers, so hopefully we’ll start to see increased performance for less of our hard earned dollars over the next few years.
