Electra Bicycles is one of the largest brands in leisure cycling. The company now offers among its models a new pedal-assist electric bike called Townie Go! that’s said to be very simple to operate and capable of helping you go good distances so you can better bridge the gap between where you get off of mass transit and your office a few miles away.

The Townie Go! makes use of a special patent Electra holds which allows riders to place their feet flat on the ground while still sitting in the saddle. It is powered by SRAM’s fully integrated E-matic zero maintenance pedal-assist propulsion system. Built into the rear hub, one just starts pedaling and, according to the cycling company,
with each pedal stroke the E-matic senses your effort and very smoothly adds some “oomph” until you reach nearly 16 miles per hour. Once you reach that speed the motor backs off to maintain a safe, sane pace. E-matic is clean and unobtrusive – there’s only one wire connection and a thin lithium-ion battery neatly tucked up underneath the rear rack. The fully charged 8-amp battery will last for about 30 miles – more than enough to handle normal commutes, fun rides and errands.
This electric pedal-assist bike “includes front and rear lights that turn on automatically when you begin to roll and shut off a few seconds after you stop. It’s also equipped with a built-in locking system that’s utilizes the same key to secure the bike’s battery.” It was four years in development and it is compatible with an array of Electra bike accessories.
Available in a choice of four body colors, the Townie Go! prices for around $2,300.
