A talented XDA-Dev team member has managed to boot Ubuntu Linux on Samsung’s Galaxy-class Tab.
As Aaron Gingrich of Android Police notes, “dviera88” discovered that the method used to load Ubuntu on the Epic 4G could be successfully replicated on the Tab.
Unfortunately, but perhaps not unsurprisingly, there are still a fair amount of kinks to be worked out.
“After watching the video, it’s pretty clear the OS wasn’t designed for touchscreens. [Yes], a mouse and keyboard would [definitely] go a long way towards making it properly usable,” Gingrich explained.
“Still, it’s cool to see and hopefully they can hack in some more improvements.”
