Mozilla optimizes memory management in Firefox 7

Mozilla has released a new version of its popular Firefox browser for Windows, Mac and Linux that optimizes memory management to accelerate web surfing. 

Indeed, the browser is now significantly faster at opening new tabs, clicking on menu items and website links.



The latest iteration of Firefox has also been revamped to better handle “heavy” Internet use, meaning, lag and drag is reduced when multiple tabs are opened for extended periods of time.



The upgrade should also make devs happy, as new tools offer easier options to build “snappier” web experiences.

For example, the latest version of hardware-accelerated Canvas speeds up HTML5 animations and games in Firefox – which should help devs code more interactive web experiences like Angry Birds or Runfield.



In addition, Firefox now supports the W3C navigation timing spec API, which measures page load time and website navigation against bandwidth speed, website traffic and other factors. 



This API will assist developers in testing user experiences remotely, while quickly optimizing websites and Web apps for various types of use case scenarios.

Finally, FF 7 allows users to help improve future versions of Firefox by enabling Telemetry – a tool built on Mozilla Privacy Principles that provides anonymous browser performance data in a private and secure way.
