Google updates Chrome Remote Desktop

Google has updated its Chrome Remote Desktop (CRD) app with a number of new features and capabilities.

Yes, CRD is now officially out of beta with support for a real time audio feed (on Windows) that allows users to listen to MP3’s on a remote machine. The upgraded app also now supports copy-and-paste between local and remote computers.

Essentially, Chrome Remote Desktop allows users to remotely access another computer through Mountain View’s Chrome browser or a Chromebook.

Computers can be made available on an short-term basis for scenarios such as ad hoc remote support, or on a more long-term basis for remote access to  applications and files.

As expected, Chrome Remote Desktop is fully cross-platform – providing remote assistance to Windows, Mac and Linux users – and allowing easy access to Windows (Vista and above) and Mac (OS X 10.6 and above) desktops at any time, all from the Chrome browser on virtually any device, including Chromebooks.
