Report: No iPhone 5 in June or July

A new report debunks earlier speculation that the iPhone 5 was slated for release in the next two months.

MacRumors says it has received word from AT&T that there are no such plans from Apple. “Apple has informed us that they do not plan to release the iPhone in the June to July time frame, though there will be a newer version in the future. Unfortunately, we have not been given a release time for the new phone. We will release this information on our website when it is available to us,” it quoted the rep as saying.

Obviously Apple has said nothing about the next iPhone yet, though it would make sense to hold off a bit considering the company just released a new version of the iPhone 4 – the white version – last month.

While no firm details of the iPhone 5 have been announced, it’s expected to have a more powerful digital camera, the same kind of processing chip as the iPad 2, and a dual mobile chip that will be able to work seamlessly on both AT&T and Verizon.

The new report would suggest Apple will not reveal any new iPhone details at its upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference, which has become the de facto launching pad for all iPhones to date.

If the AT&T quotation is to be believed, the new expected iPhone 5 release window is some time in September.

So if you were saving up to buy an iPhone, it looks like you’ll have a little bit more time than originally expected.
