Nokia introduces high-end N8 smartphone

Nokia, the company that produces more phones per year than any other company, has just revealed its latest device, one that carries its biggest price tag in over 3 years.

The N8 will come with Nokia’s brand new operating system, Symbian 3. Its impressive technical specs include a 12-megapixel camera and a 3.5-inch OLED touchscreen with multi-touch capabilities.

It will retail for around 320 euros when it’s released overseas later this year. That’s around $500, and makes it one of Nokia’s most expensive handsets.

Though it remains in a cushioned top spot in the global phone market, Nokia has been challenged over the past few years with the iPhone and budding companies like HTC, as well as fierce software competition from Google.

The N8 is set to debut in retail during the third quarter. It’s likely to be the first device to use Symbian 3, which was recently delayed to Q3.
