Microsoft releases Windows Phone 7

Forget about iOS, BlackBerry, Android and Symbian! Microsoft wants you to know that it has released the RTM version of Windows Phone 7 – to manufacturers.

That’s right!

So brace yourself – because it won’t be long until millions of Windows Phone 7 devices hit the overcrowded market in various shapes, colors and sizes.

I know I’m excited (yeah, right)!

Are you?

Well, in any case, Windows Phone 7 is supposedly the most “thoroughly tested” mobile platform the company has ever released.

I guess that means we won’t be experiencing uncontrolled bloat, blue screens of death or nefarious creeping feature syndrome anytime soon.

No, that will probably take a few years to kick in.

Besides, one can always hope and anyway, MS spokesperson Terry Myerson insists that Redmond has nearly ten thousand devices running automated tests daily, with over a half million hours of active self-hosting use, over three and a half million hours of stress test passes and eight and a half million hours of fully automated test passes.

“We’ve [also] had thousands of independent software vendors and early adopters testing our software and giving us great feedback,” Myerson explained in an official blog post.

“[So], we are ready.”

Famous last words and you know you’ve heard them from Microsoft before – Windows Vista, anyone?

So, I don’t know about you, but I’m sure as hell sticking with my Android. Remember, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
