A German antique car dealer says he has tracked down the Mercedes convertible once owned by Adolf Hitler. Michael Froelich from Dusseldorf says he found the car locked in a collector’s garage in Germany after spending the years immediately following the war in Las Vegas.
The 1935 blue Mercedes was identified using through the auto’s original documents and old photos. The armor-plated car weighs five tons and features a body made of 18mm-gauge steel, with 4cm thick windows.
Froelich says the car – valued at around $15 million – is perfectly legal because it carries no Nazi insignia and that he tracked down the car on behalf of an anonymous Russian billionaire.
It is believed to be in perfect working order apart from the satnav, which only gives directions to Poland.
