Well, that didn’t take long! Yes, the Google-powered Logitech Revue was unceremoniously torn down and dissected over the weekend by the talented folks at iFixit. Want to see what’s inside?
Of course you do! So, we’ll quickly summarize what the iFixit crew found.
The Revue is powered by a 1.2GHz Intel Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, and 5GB of NAND flash memory.
Other notable specs include a (relatively large) large internal fan to cool the heat sink, a Gigabyte motherboard, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi board (AzureWave) and a Synaptics T1021A touch controller.
As Android Central’s Kyle Gibb notes, the specs compare “pretty favorably” to the new Apple TV.
“[This] leaves us wondering why Logitech couldn’t get that $299 price down to make it an impulse-buy for consumers,” wrote Gibb.
Meanwhile, Logitech confirmed that it has kicked off an investigation of a frame rate issue plaguing the Revue’s video playback capabilities.
“We have been able to confirm that in some cases Logitech Revue is dropping video frames, resulting in a staggered image,” Peter Evans, director of Logitech Revue customer care, told Android Central.
“With Logitech Revue, it is our priority to provide a high quality TV experience, and we recognize that this issue is affecting your enjoyment.
“Logitech and the Google TV team are working hard to find the root cause of this issue and to develop a solution, which we will share with you as soon as it is available. We do apologize for your TV experience being less than perfect.”
