CES has a well-earned reputation for being the stage on which shiny new toys are unveiled, and HP hasn’t disappointed us this year, with the TM2, a successor to HP’s first convertible multitouch offering, the TX2, a laptop and tablet all-in-one.
The swively, aluminum finished laptop boasts a 12.1-inch HD LED display with 1280 X 1240 resolution and is based on Intel’s consumer ultra-low voltage (CULV) Core 2 Duo SU 9600 processor. It also comes with a 500GB, 7,200rpm hard drive.
But for those who want to pack a graphical punch, the machine can also come with discrete ATI Mobility Radeon graphics.
HP is purporting an impressive nine hours of battery life for its six-celled battery wonder, and reckons that the capacitive multitouch screen works equally well with the included stylish stylus pen as it does with users’ fingers.
As well as a FireWire port, the TM2 also sports an HDMI port and three USB 2.0 ports.
Although the standard option comes with 4GB of DDR3 memory, HP says it will let punters pay for the privilege of having up to 8GB DDR3 memory and a slightly better Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 CPU.
The laptop is already available for pre-order on HP’s website, but should be hitting shelves January 17th at a starting price of $950.
