Giada has debuted a mini-PC powered by Intel’s Cedar Trail (Atom) processor and Nvidia GT610 graphics.
The i35G mini-PC is likely targeted at the media center market, as it is more than capable of streaming HD video (1080p) and handling DX11 3D graphics.
Although the slim Giada measures only 7.6″ x 6.1″ x 1”, the unit boasts 5 USB 2.0 ports, HDMI, VGA, SPDIF ports, an Ethernet jack, audio jacks, 802.11n WiFi and Bluetooth support.
The device ships with a media center remote control, along with 2GB of DDR3 memory (scalable up to 4GB) and a 320GB hard drive (an mSATA solid state disk is optional).
As Brad Linder of Liliputing points out, the system only sips about 30W, which is actually the rate of power consumption you’d expect from a laptop – although the x86 Giada uses far more power than an ARM-based mini-PC like the (Android) MK802.
The base i35G is priced at a $274. Unfortunately, only one online store appears to be offering the mini-PC – for $319.
Those in the market for an x86 mini-PC may also want to check out Zotac’s Zbox, which features Nvidia GeForce GT 520M graphics paired with an Intel Atom dual-core processor running at 1.86 GHz.
Additional Zbox specs include DVI & HDMI outputs, 2GB DDR3, 320GB 5400RPM HDD, 2 x SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports, 4 x High-Speed USB 2.0 ports (2 on back panel, 1 on front, 1 on top), Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11n WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0. The ZBOX is currently priced at $229 for the barebones configuration and $319 for the Plus.
